Northern Ireland is home to a number of centres of excellence undertaking industrially relevant research. The regions two top universities, Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University, along with our further education colleges have strong engineering schools and research centres which work closely with materials handling companies on R&D and new product development.

Over 72% of Northern Ireland university research activity is world-leading or internationally excellent according to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 assessment.
