Belfast City Airport named 'Airport of the Year' 2019
George Best Belfast City Airport has been named the ‘Airport of the Year’ at the Aviation Industry Awards, a bi-annual commercial aviation industry competition. Three finalists progressed to the final round - George Best Belfast City Airport, Greater Toronto Airports Authority, and Heathrow Airport – with Belfast City Airport recognised as the winner following two months of intense public voting.
Katy Best, Commercial Director at Belfast City Airport, commented
It is an honour to be named ‘Airport of the Year’ and we are extremely grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and help us secure the top spot. Last year, we announced a £15million investment into our facilities and the feedback so far has been incredible. Topping the public vote is a constructive and encouraging indicator that we are ticking the right boxes with both inbound and outbound passengers.
The Aviation Industry Awards formed part of Air Convention 2019, which was held in Vilnius, Lithuania. Other winners on the night include Airbus, named Aircraft Manufacturer of the Year, and the OSM Aviation Academy, awarded the Pilot Training Centre of the Year.
Together with this year’s winners, we get inspired by the products they make and try to do our best to spread our word about their amazing achievements.
Mindaugas Gumauskas, CEO of AIR Convention
