ICC Belfast wins at Covid Response Awards
ICC Belfast comes out on top across world class companies
ICC Belfast | Waterfront Hall | Ulster Hall has been awarded Best COVID Response in Hospitality at the COVID Response Awards as well as receiving a bronze award for Best Pivot/Reinvention in Events, for the team's rapid response and outstanding work when faced with the pandemic.
The COVID Response Awards salute and pay tribute to the resilience, resourcefulness and tenacity that have been the hallmark of corporate and non-commercial organisations response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These awards celebrates ICC Belfast | Waterfront Hall | Ulster Hall's quick response to the pandemic, ensuring the venues remained resilient when faced with adversity.
The team took swift action at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak by focusing on the immediate priority of staying connected to clients, customers, and one another. An interim mission statement was introduced and the eight company values acted as a guide for decision making. As a result of the leadership shown, all colleagues have remained connected, with employee engagement levels increasing by 16%. To ensure its long-term sustainability and retain a portfolio of national and international clients, the convention centre also became hybrid-by-design in June 2020.
Julia Corkey, Chief Executive at ICC Belfast | Waterfront Hall | Ulster Hall commented saying:
We are delighted to be awarded Best COVID-19 Response in Hospitality and a bronze award for Best Pivot/Reinvention in Events at the COVID Response Awards. Over the past 18 months, our dedicated team have remained committed and resilient in a time of uncertainty, continuing to improve upon and exceed the platinum standards in place across our venues. As an organisation, we champion innovation and have recently invested in new technical infrastructure to become hybrid-by-design and ensure long-term sustainability for the business. To have our efforts recognised is a fantastic achievement, and we look forward to delivering many more world-class events.
In December 2020, ICC Belfast’s sister entertainment venues, the Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall, launched live from the Ulster Hall ‘Live from the Ulster Hall’ in December 2020. This brand-new digital event experience, funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Organisation Emergency Programme, catapulted the Ulster Hall into a new era of streaming and on-demand content. This created a route to market for the local arts industry, providing home talent opportunities to engage with their audiences via digital platforms.
As ICC Belfast | Waterfront Hall | Ulster Hall continue to welcome back audiences and delegates, safety remains the top priority. The COVID-Secure venues have been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to implementing relevant government and public health guidance in relation to COVID-19.
