ICC Belfast Introduces new Speaker Preview Technology

ICC Belfast offers a bespoke 'Speaker Preview' system that allows event organisers to effectively manage multiple presentations, across multiple rooms, providing reassurance for presenters and seamless experience for delegates. 

Speaker Preview was conceived as a system that would store and manage multiple client presentations from one central location, for ease of use and the flexibility of updating a presentation prior to a speaker delivering it.

What is Speaker Preview?

Business events at ICC Belfast involve numerous presentations in multiple locations in the flexible 7,000 square metres of space available. Presentations range from keynote speakers in the auditorium to presentations in any of the sub-divided halls and meeting room spaces. These are generally used for workshops, talks and break away sessions when a conference or business event is in full swing. Speaker preview was conceived as a system that would store and manage multiple client presentations from one central location, for ease of use and the flexibility of updating a presentation prior to speaker delivering it.

How does it work?

ICC Belfast has a designated Speaker Preview room in which six typically identical laps tops are available to all speakers at the event. There are routinely two members of the technical team assigned to the room to deliver one to one assistance in editing and uploading a presentation to our Speaker Preview system. Each laptop contains a full Microsoft suite and internet access to ensure any last-minute additions can be facilitated. Our Speaker Preview system hosts files for each room and space in the building so a presentation can be stored in the right location and is instantaneously available to use in any desired location venue-wide. Any speaker can arrive at their designated location to deliver their speech, safe in the knowledge that their presentation is ready to go. Simple.

The technical bit

The ICC Belfast Speaker Preview system was conceived, designed, constructed and implemented in house by the ICC Belfast ICT team. The WIFI offered for each business event offers the flexibility to access the system from any location within ICC Belfast, with 100% of coverage, 100% if the time. There is also a hardwire option for more complex series of presentations, offering a high transfer speed across the ICC Belfast 1GB fibre-optic backbone. There are two Speaker Preview servers, in separate geographical locations within ICC Belfast, which are continuously syncing to ensure any malfunction in server 1 will result in a rapid pick up in server 2, providing complete peace of mind for the client.
