ROLE SUMMARY

With a long history of supporting world class music and arts, the strategic focus in recent years has been on promoting ICC Belfast to a global audience to position the City of Belfast as a destination for business visitors. BWUH has now embarked on its five-year strategic plan and has ambitious plans to contribute significantly to the growth of the local economy.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the finance team and ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and projections. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure financial accountability, and ensure compliance with the Company’s governance framework.

Reporting into the Director of Finance, Risk and Corporate Services, the Financial Controller will support the production of the company’s board pack and provide comprehensive analysis and commentary to the Executive Leadership Team and established Board of Directors. They will provide visibility into the financial health and activities of BWUH by leading the development and implementation of financial models and analysis tools in order to reduce exposure to risk and identify growth opportunities within the organisation.

The successful candidate will build effective internal relationships across the business, and also be responsible for managing external relationships with Banks and Auditors.

The post-holder will be detailed orientated and possess the desire to scrutinise and analyse complex information as well as demonstrate the ability to build effective internal relationships. They will also display the following experience and skills:

  • Significant post qualification experience managing finance functions at a senior level within a fast-paced, commercial organisation and full financial responsibility for producing statutory accounts and reports.
  • Experience of working closely with senior leadership to drive financial strategy, performance, and governance.
  • Proven track record of working with a diverse range of stakeholders and developing effective relationships as well as experience of presenting to Executive Teams and/or at Board level.
  • Evidence of successfully managing and developing a Finance Team.
  • Hold a professional accountancy qualification – ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
